The 38th Barum Rally Zlín
July 2008 - The 38th Barum Rally Zlín (22nd – 24th August), the most important rally of the Czech Republic will be again a part of the European Rally Championship and Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

The organizers, AK Barum Zlín, would like to introduce new order of the rally program. Nevertheless, the Super SS will take place in Zlin like it did last year. “The scrutineering will take place on Thursday evening in sports hall Novesta. It will be accessible to the public and we are preparing accopmanying program. Another change concerns shakedown. It will take place on Friday afternoon at a new section near Slušovice.
The service zone for the shakedown will be located near the racing circuit in Slušovice,“ said Miloslav Regner, head of Barum Rally Zlín. The final shape of the track and individual special stages is still a matter of discussion. “The last-year form of the Super SS has acquitted well. It will take place this year again. The first crew will start at 9 p. m. The Super SS will include 3 laps and the spectators will be able to see many elite drivers with Super 2000 cars. Last year about 40,000 spectators watched the Super SS,“ said Regner.
The ceremonial start of the rally will take place at 5 p. m. in front of the Zlin Big Cinema. On Saturday 8 special stages will take place at 4 sections. The Saturday (23rd August) leg will start at 9 a. m. and the first crew will arrive in the enclosed parking place at 7:29 p. m. The Sunday (24th August) leg starts at 8 a. m. It includes 6 special stages at 3 sections. The first crew will arrive in the finish at 3:31 p. m. The track is 539 km long in total and includes 15 special stages at 8 sections in total length of 257 km. The special stages constitute 48% of the total track.
